Dog Friendly Holiday- Adriennes Country Retreat
Willie Pup has been working hard for an 8 month old, so we decided it was time for a break away. Finding the perfect dog friendly weekend getaway wasn't easy but we finally did it. If your looking for a relaxing night or few out of town with your fur buddy, views, walks, stars, wine, cheese and wildlife.... this is for you.
Adrienne's Country Retreat is a bed and breakfast just 60 kms north of Melbourne in Barringo Valley. The perfect country escape for us city kids and our fur child. This was to be Willie's first ever stay away from our city house and a hell of an adventure for the young pup!
A short drive from Melbourne and some serious Op shopping finds along the way we soon arrived at Adrienne's retreat. This stunning property is set on 15 acres at the foothills of Mt. Macedon. With gorgeous gardens surrounding the main house and a picturesque pond.
Our self contained B&B was stylishly decorated and best of all had its own private courtyard with 6 seater outdoor spa! Adrienne made us feel incredibly welcome and very much as though we had the property all to ourselves. Adriennes's gorgeous 11 year old black Lab 'Daisy' quickly took Willie under her wing, keeping him entertained while us grown ups indulged in plenty of cheese and wine.
We made the most of the retreats rambling property taking Willie for long walks through the bush and down the fields. Willie saw his first rabbits and kangaroos! Best of all the property felt safe enough (and with Daisy's careful watch) to let our young pup roam off leash constantly during the day time.
Willie has insisted we go back so he can play with Daisy again, which is fine with us as we already miss the spa! Not to mention Adrienne's incredible breakfasts overlooking the views.
The retreat is a studio/apartment attached to the main residence, however totally private. We enjoyed a kingsized 'very comfy' bed and a large plasma TV. The bathroom was crisp clean and modern with a walk in shower that even Willie enjoyed!
There is a kitchenette with tea/coffee making facilities, toaster, microwave and an undercover BBQ and a patio heater or brazier.
Each morning Adrienne made us delicious fully cooked breakfasts - day 1 was scrummy hash browns, mushrooms, bacon scrambled eggs and tomatoes. Day 2 we ate pancakes with every topping imaginable ( We nearly popped!)

We also managed a little day excursion to the famous near by "Hanging Rock". Loads of rocks for Willie to climb.
There were also plenty of gorgeous wineriesto explore around the Macedon area
