Due for another photoshoot we decided to keep it local and cruise down the street to Kustom Kommune. - Here's a peek behind the scenes.
Kustom Kommune is Australia’s first fully equipped DIY motorcycle workshop, a place where bike lovers can work on motorcycle projects including, restorations, scratch builds, custom projects or general maintenance, no project is too big or small. It’s a community of like minded motorcycle enthusiasts learning from one another and building networks.
Behind the scenes of the Kustom Kommune you’ll find Jimmy Goode and Geoff “Richie” Baldwin, two of Melbourne’s most obsessive supporters of the custom motorcycle scene.
Having both experienced first hand the challenges of working on front porches, in living rooms and on street verges. They knew what it’s like losing sleep while fretting about your wheels parked out in the rain or on a dodgy street. So with the help of a Pozible campaign and loads of like minded supporters they launched the Kommune in 2013
Also on site for a limited time is Easey St the Smoke Out. Serving up some of Melbourne’s best beef brisket, pulled pork and lamb ribs every Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening. Kicking off at 5pm the bar serves up cold beers and American Whiskeys, the stereo pumps out nothing but rock and they even have some retro moto movies up on a big screen.
Behind the barbie are the crew from Iron Bark BBQ. Their produce is sourced from local farmers and smoked onsite for 12 hours at Kustom Kommune in a wood fired smoker.
On the day of our shoot the sweet smokey flavours coming from the slow cooking Texan BBQ were mouth watering and bloody distracting for all of us, especially Willie dog.
Huge thanks to Jimmy and the crew for letting Willie come down, we got some great shots. These guys were super friendly and the Kommune has such a great vibe, we highly recommend getting down there checking out the workshop and bikes or just head along to shoot some whiskey and smash some brisket!. – Word on the street is you gotta get there before 8:30pm for any hope of getting brisket.
